Capt Cristina is a Florida native originally from Jacksonville, Fl. Cristina and Capt Mike have owned Good Time Charters since 2005. She also owns Everglades Adventure, Paradise Charters, and Fort Myers Beach Yoga llc. She has a degree in Biology from the University of North Fl, conducted most of her research in the FL Keys and the Bahamas, and worked for local and state govt agencies for a total of 9 yrs during which time she got transferred here to our area. She loves to travel often, and has been to most of the States, as well as abroad to Costa Rica, Honduras, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Australia, British Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Family Bahamian Islands.
She began guiding in 2004 and guides our Coastal Sealife shelling and dolphin tours, and Paddling trips. She also answers calls, emails, handles our marketing, captains’ schedules, schedules routine engine maintenance, and well, we could go on all day. Crowned Buzzard Queen 2006 of Goodland, FL, she is also a certified Florida Master Naturalist, a registered Yoga teacher, certified Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga fitness instructor, and volunteers with local biologists in Estero bay to conduct rookery monitoring as well as volunteer on local Environmental Advisory committees. She has a candid sense of humor, is a wealth of knowledge about the local fish, wildlife, and environment, and makes for a fun and insightful experience!
Capt Mike, originally from Connecticut, is a former Coast Guardsman. He worked on an ice breaker in New York Harbor before getting a transfer here to defrost on Ft Myers Beach as part of the Search and Rescue team. Just before he transferred to Florida, the Coast Guard warned him he was going to meet a cute Southern girl and never leave. Mike said that’s never going to happen.
After finishing with the Coast Guard he intended on moving back to Connecticut, but he began working at a marina, met and married Cristina from Florida and never left. Mike and Cristina have owned Good Time Charters since 2005. Mike began guiding in 2003 and is our primary fishing guide, but he also occasionally guides our dolphin tours and is a certified Coastal Florida Master Naturalist.
He is the best backwater fishing guide in Ft Myers Beach and is well respected in the community as such. He has incredible patience, is a very hard worker, and works great with all ages and skill levels. He is very knowledgeable of the local waterways and wildlife and will provide you and your family with an experience that you will cherish for a lifetime.
Captain Gale is a retired Iowa Department of Natural Resources ranger with 33 years experience in boating safety enforcement, natural resource interpretation and state parks management. He has a degree in Public Administration and is a graduate of the Iowa State Law Enforcement Academy. He is also a certified Florida Master Naturalist. Gale and his wife Maureen love to travel and have completed America’s Great Loop, sailing over 7,000 miles around the eastern half of the United States and Canada aboard their sailing catamaran, The Blue Heron. Some of their favorite cruising areas include Canada’s North Channel, Georgian Bay, the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, the Chesapeake Bay, the Florida Gulf Coast, the Bahamas, Jamaica, a Panama Canal transit, Costa Rica, Mexico and California. Captain Gale enjoys fishing, and practicing yoga with his wife Maureen. You should see his one-handed crow pose! Gale runs our dolphin tours, and paddling tours. Gale has real passion for wildlife and ecosystems, truly enjoys sharing his knowledge of the local flora and fauna with you, and we are proud to have him on our team!
Captain Maureen – also known as Captain Mo, and Mo’ Gator, found herself falling in love with Fort Myers Beach when she and her husband, Captain Gale (see above), spent the better portion of three winters here while living aboard their boat, Blue Heron. Maureen says Fort Myers Beach reminds her of the little tourist town she and Gale grew up in back in North Iowa — except that the sun is almost always shining here and you never have to shovel snow! Captain Mo is a graduate of Iowa State University and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a CPA before selling her business and retiring in 2008. Maureen has worn many other hats over the years including firefighter, paramedic, yoga teacher and, more recently, Captain, Florida Master Naturalist and certified standup paddleboard yoga instructor. Captain Mo is one of the faces you may see if you stop by our office in the Ship’s Store at Snook Bight Marina or she may be the one you talk to when you make your tour reservations over the phone. Maureen also guides our paddleboard and kayak tours. If you are looking for a fitness experience on a paddleboard, Captain Mo would love to lead you through a challenging and fun yoga paddleboard class!
Captain Steve – Originally from Chicago, Steve attended Columbia College where he studied photography. He move to Southwest Florida in 1989 and has been learning about, and enjoying the local waters ever since! He enjoys nature, cooking, seeking out good food, and the simple things in life. He also enjoys traveling and learning more about the world, cultures, and meeting new people. He is very passionate about our estuaries and our wildlife, and loves to share his knowledge and interpretation of it all with our visitors. Capt Steve is currently furthering his education and obtaining his Florida Master Naturalist Certification. He has a witty sense of humor and loves to make people laugh. Capt Steve has been guiding in Fort Myers Beach since 2004 and we are so lucky to have him on our team “Good Times”!
Ryan is originally from Palm Harbor FL and is majoring in Hospitality at Florida Gulf Coast University. You will know why he chose this line of work when you meet him. He loves to show you a great time and ensure you have a fun and memorable experience. Being born and raised in Florida and enjoying the outdoors , he loves to share with you his many stories of adventures he has experienced so far. He loves to travel, try new foods, and is quite the grill master! He is currently, furthering his education by completing the Florida Master naturalist program. He is very knowledgeable about the ecosystems of SW Florida and looks forward to sharing his insight with you. He stays very active in our community, and conducts volunteer work for the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve. When he is not in school or on tours, he plays baseball on a local league and he sure can bring the heat when he pitches! You will meet Ryan on the dolphin cruises and on paddling adventures. His energy and enthusiasm makes him the perfect addition to our team and we are fortunate to have him.
Andrea is a Biologist from the city of Brazil, Indiana. Andrea graduated from Indiana University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Certificate in Underwater Resources Management. While achieving her degree, she studied abroad in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic where she performed biological assessments on several underwater archaeological sites, including the Captain Kidd shipwreck. Upon returning from her studies abroad, she continued working with the IU Office of Underwater Science in their “Living Museums of the Sea” exhibit at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. In June 2014, she moved to Fort Myers and accepted an internship at Ostego Bay Marine Science Center, teaching the children’s marine science summer camp, at which time she also began working as an eco-tour guide in Estero Bay. Andrea is Rescue Diver certified and has completed the Coastal Systems Florida Master Naturalist course through the University of Florida. She is well versed in local flora and fauna and would love to help you experience the beauty of Estero Bay!
Laura is originally from Connecticut where she grew up going to the beaches on Long Island Sound. Once she started visiting her brother on Fort Myers Beach, Laura completely fell in love with the all things SWFL. In 2010 she made the decision to make the move to live where she vacationed!
She loves to travel, paddle, laugh and meet new people. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious and will surely have you smiling from ear to ear. Laura is aboard the Phoenix as First Mate and is our SUP Yoga instructor. Laura has a Bachelor degree in Liberal Arts, is a certified yoga instructor and certified SUP yoga instructor. She is continuing her education by achieving her Florida Master Naturalist Certification through the University of Florida. Her passion and knowledge for wildlife and ecosystems around Fort Myers Beach will contribute to you having a memorable and fun experience with us!
Capt Mike Z
Captain Michael grew up on the waters of southwest Florida. He attended Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL where he received a bachelor’s degree in marine science with a minor in biology. His research includes sea turtle conservation, oyster reef ecology and publications in Geobiology. Captain Mike has spent years operating vessels, including navigating waters as far north as the Gulf of Maine as a Captain/Naturalist for a whale watching company, delivering sailing yachts up the East Coast of the U.S., the North Atlantic and the Caribbean, and time spent on a ferry vessel departing from southwest Florida to Key West. In his free time Mike loves to surf and spend time with family and friends. Working for Good Time Charters allows him to combine both of his passions, science and the sea. We are fortunate to have him on our team and he is sure to provide you with a fun and memorable experience.
Veronica’s passion for environmental science started at a very young age being born and raised on Fort Myers Beach. She obtained her Masters and Bachelors degrees in Biology and Animal Behavior from Florida Atlantic University. Most of her research has centered around marine animal acoustics and communication. She has had the opportunity to study Atlantic spotted and bottlenose dolphin’s signature whistles, as well as manatee and right whale vocalizations. Veronica is an avid and enthusiastic birder and spent the last three years working in various rookery, shorebird, and sea turtle monitoring organizations all around Florida. She has a background in marine mammal rescue and has volunteered with Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve to conduct colonial nesting surveys, as well as seagrass and oyster monitoring. Veronica is very fun and quirky, and is enthusiastically nerdy about ecology. She loves to share her passion for the world as a naturalist guide on our dolphin boat tours, and Everglades tours. She and her husband love to explore diverse ecosystems and travel around the world actively enjoying hiking, kayaking, and scuba diving. She is a huge fan of the arts, and enjoys capturing beautiful moments through photography and watercolor. In her spare time, she and her husband are currently writing a children’s book series about South Florida wildlife. When she’s not guiding nature tours, you will find her whipping up a delicious gluten-free treat with her kids, running barefoot on the beach, or curled up with a book under a shaded tree. Veronica is a wealth of knowledge, and she is an incredible addition to our Good Time Family crew.
